We have rainy weather here in NC today and have been playing with some of the parts from the latest parts car, a 1964 Coupe de Ville. This car has had some extremely nice stuff... the best front engine cover yet, nice exhaust manifolds, excellent intake manifold and the engine block is nice and unmolested with the nylon still on the timing gear teeth!
BUT... the reason I started pulling parts cars in 20+ years ago was to find parts for my 64 CDV - Dino. Well several pieces from this latest parts car have or will make their way to Dino and just cleaned up another. The RH "hidden" ash tray you see below looks like it has never been used and has already been swapped out for the one I had in Dino. Since a car basically breaks down to 5000 parts or so, there is still a lot of opportunity to continue to improve my Caddy and always chuffed to find the good stuff like this. The lighter and base also looks unused and will put it up for sell as I already have 4 like new lighters in Dino.
Anway, check it out.

When we first got our 64, i thought..."why would you put an ashtray so far from the passenger?
Then, one day I was wiping down the wood trim and as I pushed a bit on the bottom portion of wood between the glove box and A/C vent trim, a bloody great ashtray the size of 2 gallon bucket swung out.
I was impressed to, as ours are pretty good.... not perfect, but pretty good.
Today they are MDCS's --> Mobile Device Charging Stations! A place for power and a place to store your adaptors! Those Cadillac engineers were spot-on in terms of designing something for future use! In fact 50 years from now the tech kids will probably be using them to energize their Giga-Splat Velocity Blasters! ....and you know that's a Billion Splats... yee ha!
It does amaze me how advanced the Cadillacs were back then. Power steering, power seats, power windows, tilt wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, cornering lamps, AF/FM stereos, power antennas, climate control! The list goes on and on.
Most of the stuff that was available on our Cadillacs took 30 years to become standard on cars.
Incredible!

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
