1961 to 1963 Short Deck / Park Avenue Sedan Stats

Here are the variations of the 1961 - 1963 Short Deck sedans:

1961 - body style # 6399, body style code 'D', 6 window Sedan deVille Short Deck- 3,756 built
1962 - body style # 6289, body style code 'A', 4 window Sixty Two Town Sedan - 2,600 built
1962 - body style # 6389, body style code 'D', 4 window Park Avenue Sedan deVille - 2,600 built

1963 - body style # 6389, body style code 'D', 4 window Park Avenue Sedan DeVille - 1,575 built
- Wheelbase      - 129.5" (same as other 62 and 63 series body styles)
- Overall length - 215.0" (vs the 223.0" length of other 62 and 63 series body styles)

NOTE: In the 1961 shop manual and 1st Edition Owners Manual a 6299 body style is listed but is not in the master parts book. It was not produced. Instead a 6399 6W short deck was produced.

Also NOTE: Some books reference a 1961 6399 Town Sedan with body code "C'. It is my understanding that the correct body style and Code is listed above with the 'D'.

There's been some good discussion on the short decks on the CLC forums at this link: http://forums.cadillaclasalleclub.org/index.php?topic=157482.0

Thankfully, the 1963 6389 Park Avenue is less confusing than the 1961 6399 (insert your own name here! LOL)

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
