Well after apparently getting the ignition thing figured out, a temp starter switch put in, i was smiling and took her out for a spin,,
suddenly, the thing started sounding like a log truck,, if you have ever been behind a beat up old log truck, you know what i mean,, video attached.
as i am deaf in left ear, i cant tell if its coming from under body around the muffler or not, only hear it out the side window. it doesnt seem tope so bad if i just rev the engine in park, but if i get on it while driving,, reallystarts to banging,, ,,so, i ask you people again to help me out here,, believe, me,, every noise and repair i make is giving me education so please dont think its going un noticed, i am taking in all these noises and problems for future, auto ailments.

yes,, it does,, but when its am not moving, its not near as prevalent, it sounds more distinct in slow, going up a hill, like its under some load. and then, when i get up,, it makes the flapping, clanking noise, when i give it gas.. if i get to speed, let off the pedal,, it makes no noise,, these are the symptoms that i have experienced,,,with out the poor video quality
i created a problem for myself though , when i put in the generic starter,, it seems to have a touchy off and on. I may have left the starter in the on position, and with a petronix 1, may have burned it up,,,,went out today to start, battery was completely dead,, my lights were all off, on my last drive,, the car will turn over and over and over,, no fire, tried a little gas in the carb,, nothing,, thats when it dawned on me that i may have burned it up,, sosoooooooo,,,got one on order, please check back tuesday night, new part coming in, hoping it is the problem. I dont think dancing with the stars should be on, so you will have good viewing of my clanking engine.
did some research on you tube, 390 engine knocking, and this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxfOo9MuG4k actually sounds pretty much what its like in a parked position, the knocking isn't as loud as it is when its under stress, like i started earlier,
i have been checking oil and TF religiously with that oil pump leak, just making sure I'm not getting low. but it is a defineley leak, so,
giving my symptoms, the similar you tube video,, any thoughts would be appreciated...again, this just "happened" one drive nothing, the next drive, noise,
will get back when i get her up and starting again,,,,thanks for the suggestions,, will look at it all up restart
thanks

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
