I have a vibration in my steering wheel from 35 mph-50 mph while I'm driving. When I'm in park I can rev it up and get a vibration at a higher RPM all in the steering wheel.

I've rebuilt the motor, new harmonic balancer, new motor mounts, tranny mount, rag joint ect. I have not done anything in the steering column. Is there anything in the steering column that absorbs vibration? It does not wiggle. Before I rebuilt the motor I thought it was in my tires but recently bought new rims and tire after I had the motor rebuilt. When that did not work I then notice I did not have to be moving and can feel the vibration in the wheel. Now that I think about it I've had this vibration when I bought the car. Any thoughts?

I see no need to have these stock engines balanced as they were built to aircraft specifications then-That's what the engine builder said, that's why he did not balance ect. .One thing we notice the crank was tight when taking it apart before the rebuild (should of had the crank balanced).

Dominic,

When an engine is balanced, the crank and everything attached to it are what gets balanced and adjusted. The harmonic balancer is one of the parts of the process and you sometimes see several blind holes drilled on the back sides of them. Since you have switched balancers, the new one may not match the rest of your rotating assembly.

Any imbalance would show up at higher RPM which lines up with how you describe the situation.

I am not convinced this is the issue but thought I would throw it out there for consideration.

Did you use the original bolts to hold the pulley to the harmonic balancer, or use generic bolts. Too long of a bolt will push the rubber off of the metal mount, ruining the harmonic balancer.

It's on the Help page under Harmonic Balancer Bolt for Installation.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
