I am running Rotella T4 15-40 and it’s runs great-even in the winter.

Its always has a bit of an oil leak, but getting a little heavier. Do we think this could be the rear main seal leak?

As always, thanks for the help!

Have you checked on the oil sending unit?  They like to leak at the top, or it could be valve covers leaking.

Hi Logan,

Russ is right.  Check that nothing is leaking from the top and dripping down.  The sender switch is in the rear as he said.  Also, from the valve cover gaskets - that the return holes are clear under the valve covers.  If not, it probably is the rear main seal (the Achilles Heel of the 429 CI).  Good luck with it.

Thank you!

I had the car out and drove about 50 miles yesterday, the weather was GREAT! Woke this morning, it was SNOWING! Ug, winter isnt done with us yet it seems.

Logan,

Like you, I live in the north and don't even want tot hear the word "winter" again.  Good luck with your Caddy!

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
