i am still fighting and searching for leaks,

as earlier stated,  i had to re do my valve cover gasket  and had to do some metal tapping to get everything stair and flat,,,,at least, this time, i think i have it.  no apparent leaking..

so i got back under the engine to snoop around.  the i know for a true fact that the PS pump is leaking,, and it seems to be going down and along other parts.  I think, know that around the connections that lead out of the PS pump and look like they attach at the steering box, it is a real mess, gunky, nasty, and i have cleaned before, so it may be leaking there as well.

what concerns me, is the junk on the side of the engine, above the oil pan.  now i know now the valves aren't leaking, so theoretically, i should be getting no oil sludge on the side of the engine above the pan.,, so, is it possible the head gasket is leaking?

i am not loosing any coolant that i am aware of, never gets hot,  no smoke out back i am aware of except when i start in the mornings,, it is bit smoky, but after that, nothing, plus, its in the 15s and 20s in the a.m. right now.

can the head gasket leak oil and not be the standard head gasket damage,, just a leaking gasket. or is it just generally supposed that if its leaking its the more damaged head gasket problem of coolant in the engine.

very frustrating.  i may be blow off from the ps pump, but that would be a lot of fluid, i would think,  its not dripping off anywhere on the ground,  just its there, and i feel it has to be coming from somewhere,

i did notice on the oil pump leak, it is leaking,, so i have to try to work on that, but i just want to be sure i dont have a larger head gasket problem...

thanks, in advance

I do not think it is a head gasket problem, as you would be having other problems along with an oil leak.

Degrease the entire engine and fix the leaks as you see them.  OIl mist could be coming out of the oil filler tube. It is a breather tube, but if the piston rings are worn, blow by will come up the fill tube and carry oil with it.

The PS gearbox leak is probably the return or low pressure line leaking.  It is a straight piece of tubing, so it is a simple replacement.

I had a leak I really could not see. So I removed the oil pump cleaned it, checked the parts, refitted with new gaskets. No more leak. Took a couple of hours and the cost for the three gaskets was cheap.
When u pull off the oil pump, do the spring parts pop out or are they set in until u pull it and get it on a table?

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
