All,
after being on my first outing my 1963 has a broken engine bearing and I have decided at this point to do a full engine remanufacture.

Do you have any experience or recommendations for Remanufacturers?
So far I have been in contact with Jasper's.

I am in Charlotte, NC.

Thanks
Daniela

Hi Tony,
No the reman is my decision. Discussed it with my dad and since the engine has to be taken apart anyways and it is still the original we came to the decision it’s just the best time to do the complete overhaul. More to prevent something else going bad in the future.
Thank you, Mark!
That’s exactly why I posted here to get input from all those a lot more experienced than me.

I had a customer come from Tennessee and pick up a rear end from me this week and we got to talking and he said he had had his engine rebuilt by Jasper a few years and a few thousand miles ago. My ears popped up since I had just read some negative stuff here about them and asked my customer how it went and he said "The car is running fine, not leaking or any issues." I told him well I guess you cannot ask for more than that.

This is one sample out of probably hundreds of engines they have rebuilt. It does not confirm they are good or bad overall ... but just thought I would share. I think they have picked up engines from me in the past when I might have 4 to 6 laying around, but that has been some time back. I had no issue with then and remember they paid a fair price for the engines.  Just thought I would pass this along. If I considered them as a source for a rebuilt engines I would want to get many references, and some recent references with our 390's and 429's.

Daniela, If no one has a suggestion or reference you might try contacting EGGE Auto Parts. They are a known source for quality engine rebuild parts and think they would be a prominent supplier for quality rebuilders. You might ask them for recommendations. Parts would likely be sourced from them so that would be a win-win for both of you.

Here is there contact info:
EGGE Machine Company - www.egge.com
Pistons, Eng. Rebuild Parts
11707 Slauson Ave, Sante Fe Springs CA 90670
800-866-EGGE, www.egge.com

Also since you are in Charlotte area, home to NASCAR and engine rebuilders, maybe Travis from the Carolina Region can provide some reference.  I have no one I would recommend in the Raleigh, NC area, not to mention it is 2.5 hrs away from you.

Thank you!

Daniela, my son had an engine rebuilt by Beal Racing Engines in Thomasville, NC. Even though they specialize in racing engines, they do work on most anything. My son had a Pontiac 455 engine rebuilt, and some enhancements to it for more hp, but nothing radical. They can probably rebuild/repair any engine. Their website is https://www.bealracingengines.com/  It might be worth a call to them to see what they can do for your engine.

Thank you, Les! I will definitely contact them!
Tony,
I will let keep you all up to date.
I was at Almar today. They are a nice medium size garage doing full car restorations - this was a recommendation of a different classic car garage that didn’t have space/man power left to work on my car.
I will go and look at Henn Automotive. (another full service garage recommended to me)
And then I am going to contact the speed shop Les recommended.
Lots to do and a lot to learn.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
