I just got home with Parts Car #47, a highly optioned 1964 Sedan de Ville. This one was a car I found on my July 24 Winston-Salem, NC "Cadillac Fishing Trip"!

It is a well weathered car but was highly optioned and will provide a lot of goodies for my 64 CDV and my customers. As always, I will start going down my Wait List in the coming weeks as I start dismantling the car. If you need something email me at jasonedge@nc.rr.com

Below is a picture of the Eldo "896" horn. For other pictures of optional items, Click Here.

I often have funny adventures when picking up parts cars and this car was no exception. When I first opened the door and sat inside on the driver side, I was naturally checking out everything closely, when suddenly 4 or 5 wasps appeared right in front of me, coming out of a HUGE WASP NEST that I did not see in the LH door jamb. Without flinching, I immediately leaned over to the RH door, opened the door, and rolled out into the grass on the passenger side of the car. I think I provided the older gentleman that was standing by the car entertainment he was not expecting. He said something like "It is good you are agile and could roll out of the car like that!". Anyway, he definitely perked up when I showed him the big wasp nest. I got the nest out of the door jamb without any stings! Lesson Learned, always bring wasp killer spray on my Cadillac Fishing Trips!

Oh yeah, I have learned the hard way; those darn wasps will move into any vehicle not being moved or driven regularly. Got stung last year opening the trunk on the parts car. Got me before I knew it! Haven't had any problems with snakes , least not yet.

Hey Jason, become a mower man.... paper wasp stings hurt.....a lot, welcome to my world.

Now, back to the 64..... that's a ripper of an ID tag and I thought ours was highly optioned. For the life of me, i'll never understand why folks let a car just sit and rot until its all but rooted.

Yeah, I guess the next phase for that 64 is to ensure lots of other 64's live on.

We might have to see if we can get you a job as MacGyver's stunt double after this latest episode.

Kevin, I didn't know I could still Bust a Move like that until I saw those wasps staring me down inches in front of my face.

Jason, I'd bet you hadn't moved that fast in years! HA HA!. Glad to hear you weren't stung. Hate those buggers and those mud daubbers too.

I got the 64 SDV parts car fired up today. Runs pretty good given the fact it has been sitting for 7+ years.  You can hear all 4 horns, including the Eldo Horn at the end if this short video.

Jason,

That horn setup is pretty sweet. No wonder you'll be keeping it for yourself.

Yeah, it is tempting to pull it Right Now and start work on repainting it and install on "Dino", but it will be there waiting for me plus I want to get some good pictures on the way it is mounted. I have a few low res and vague pictures of these horns and no detailed pics of the specific mounting. I will remedy that very soon with some good pictures and post here on the site. This morning I pulled the rear seat belts which were really nice. I will add pictures of them to our Seat Belt "help" page in a bit.

Jason, Dino has way too much class for such a horn. It'll look goofy, sound like shit and will make Dino's value plummet to hell in an instant...... DON'T DO IT.

It would look and sound nice though, on the correct car..... um... let me think... yep, I reckon it would much better suit a 1964 Fleetwood and would you believe, I even have one in mind.

A nice white one..... PMSL...... kick it to me... kick it to me... kick it to me.

Ha. Ha. There have been many parts I bounced back and forth in my mind whether or not I would sell or if would it go to Dino .... there was zero thought involved with this item, though!!!

Tony, Kevin was just being cheeky with me .The Eldo horn was an optional horn for any 1963 or 1964 Cadillac, including the 1964 Sedan de Ville it will be removed from, and is 100% correct for my car just as power vents, AC, Power Seats, tinted glass. etc. It was standard on the Eldo; optional on all other body styles.  Note page 4 in  your 1964 Cadillac Accessories manual:

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
