The car was running fantastic today as we cruised down to the Clayton Harvest Festival Car Show and since I knew it might be a while before I can drive it as I replace the exhaust I changed out the metering rods to 4% richer for both cruise mode and power mode.   As good as it ran earlier now with the new richer metering rod jet configuration it is really running incredible.  I took it for one last spin before I start removing the custom dual exhaust and it is just really running great. It will be funny to hear it nice and quite when I get the new exhaust system installed, but couldn't help taking it out for one last blast before I start the change-out.  Just to back up a bit, when I had went from the ignitor II setup to the Ignitor III setup I returned the carb configuration to stock to get an ideal of  how the richer jets might improve with the III setup and it really makes a big difference!

The engine now has 347 miles on it (162,278 on the car), and changes the oil for the first time since the rebuild.  I had planned to wait until 500 miles were on the engine but was anxious to change it now that I had least have some miles on it.  I'm running regular "on sale" 10W30 oil and wills switch to a semi-sythetic or all synthetic after 1000 miles are on the engine...which at my rate will be some time! :-)

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
