There was some discussion on 2 Door Hardtop and Convertible doors recently and thought I would add a bit more info regarding some basic items that are the same and difference between the 2 door convertible and hard top doors.
Using the above illustration for reference (and clicking Full Screen to Zoom In):
Items that are the same between the 2 dr hard top and convertible includes the core metal door, upper and lower door hinge, window regulator and motor, front door inner panel cam (L), and front door window rear run channel. (H). In fact the regulator, motors and rear run channel are the same for all 1961 thru 1964 Coupes...both hardtops and convertibles.
Items that are different include the vent window frame, vent window (although window is the same as the 62 & 63 series sedans), and the entire door window assembly including lower sash channel and cam, glass, and rear and top chrome trim.
The window on the convertible is shorter (about 13 1/2" tall from outside vs 15") than the hard top, and the glass is longer and has a longer lower sash channel that the glass sits in, than the 2 door hard tops. In addition, the vent window on the on the convertibles has a shorter height, and shorter run down door than 2 door hard tops.
This also means the polished reveal molding at top of door below side glass is longer on the convertible than hard top, and the reveal molding at top of door below vent window is shorter on the convertible than the hard top.

Many owners have reported oil leaks at the rear main seal even after replacing the seal, myself included. Recently Tony Lentini found a Serviceman bulletin published in February 1965 which details a…Continue

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
