Hello All.
I will be replacing the starter solenoid tomorrow (actually my mechanic will do the work, I'll just supervise). In checking the FSM electrical schematic and chapter verbiage, I don't see anything that looks like (or is referred to as) a starter Relay. It seems the Starter Solenoid serves the function and there's no separate relay. Right or Wrong?
If wrong, where…

Hello All.
I believe the starter solenoid has gone bad in my 64 DeVille. When I turn the key, often all I get is a click, then if I try a few times again the starter turns perfectly. All battery cables are on tight and the battery is good. So, I believe this problem is the solenoid. Where do I buy the right solenoid and is it necessary to remove the starter in order to swap it out? …

I am happy to report that I have successfully replaced the Fresh Air/Recirc door actuator that is located on the blower box-and have done so without having to remove the blower box. I did it by taking out the glove box and attacking it from the back. It took several days, LOTS of patience and some band-aids, but it is done. THE most difficult part -BY FAR- is to remove and then replace the screw that sits on the actuator arm, connecting it to the fresh…

Hi.
Where is the best place to purchase good quality motor mounts/trans mounts for my 1964 SDV? I see that Rock Auto has them for $8 and change, and others for $24 and change. Big difference. Is there a better place to buy them from?
Thanks
Norm

My car still has its "T-3"headlamps and they shed poor, yellow-tinted light. I'd like to replace them with something that most folks on this web site use, that would shed good light and don't heat up the wiring with too many amps.
Survey says?

Although the radiator was not leaking, nor was the car running hot, I tool out the radiator today to have it boiled out and rodded out. Then I changed the oil and filter (filter is very easy to reach with the radiator out), then the thermostat got changed.
I'll have the radiator back from the shop on Monday, and will reinstall it then.
Still having…

I went to replace the bulb in the trunk light socket and was met by something I had never seen before: the socket appears to be made in two thicknesses. First a wide one with appropriate cut outs on the side where the bulb nipples fit in, then a long slender shaft (with a cardboard tubular insert) down to the positive contact. I've never seen anything like this. Only thing I can figure is that it is designed to have a metal rod inside the cardboard shaft that…

I got the rebuilt Power module back from the rebuilder and reinstalled it.
It's been a while since i posted on this topic so I will remind those reading that the main problem I have been chasing is that i can't get air out of the AC or the heater ducts-even though the heat/ac vacuum solenoid is working. Today, I found out why.
I installed the newly rebuilt Module but it…

I finally got the car back from the body shop, where they color sanded and polished it out. I am literally blown away by the result! Now, it looks great from 2 feet but if you look REALLY CLOSE you can see that the paint is not as glossy as it should be, but Sothe end result is much better than what I started with. The interior is still original.

While waiting for my AC transducer and power module to come back, I started to pay a little attention to the rear door window, which works but gets hung up (the back goes up higher than the front and I have to lift the front while it is coming up). I am guessing the front of the scissors is out of the track and needs to be put back-but I'm not sure and won't be till I get a look at what's happening in the door. …

Hi.
Update:
I removed both 7 nipple vacuum valves and called my buddy who owns a machine shop. Tomorrow we'll re-surface the valve faces and then I'll reinstall them. HOWEVER, the one that comes out easily and comes apart with no rivet is on the Power module side. It installs on one side with a small bolt, and on the other it is held on by a clip, WHICH IS MISSING ON MY CAR. I am going to assume it is the same clip that is used on the Control Module side. Anybody got one? Happy…

So, I've put my 7 vacuum valve from the control head side to the test, and it failed. I looked at the instructions for re-conditioning it and unless I am missing something, the instructions are missing something (about how to take off the clip that provides the tension that holds the two pieces together).
In any case, I can't do this particular repair so I am looking for a new valve (not likely), or a good re-conditioned one, or someone who has done this before and would do mine for…

OK, here we go.....
I got the book to troubleshoot the system. INDISPENSABLE to this effort.
As I do a cursory exam, I see that the AC RECIRC SOLENOID is Cracked (the WHITE one in the engine compartment coming out of the HVAC body with two vacuum hoses on it). I tried to patch it up (cracked all around the base), but it does not look like it will hold.
PLEASE TELL ME THAT REPLACING THIS PART IS NOT AS DIFFICULT AS I THINK IT IS, But I think it is a bear to…

Hello all.
I need to replace the muffler on my 64 and the local shop does not have the correct one.
After looking on the web site's help section, I still don't see a recommended part/manufacturer or suggestion.
What is the best solution to purchase for a stock, single system with 2 1/2 inch pipes, center in, offset out?
Thanks.

Hello All.
I thought I'd post a little encouragement for those that might have an inoperative 6 way power seat in their car. The fix is relatively easy, and VERY cheap.
I just purchased an original (not re-painted, nor reupholstered) 64 Sedan De Ville 4 window. When I purchased it the front seat was adjusted forward and tilted down in front; two of the worst positions for me, so I had no choice but to attempt to repair it.
Pushing the switch in each direction brought…

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
