Wheel cylinder

Hi,i am in the progress of changing my rear wheel cylinders. According to the master parts list ( I call it the bible ) there should be a wheel cylinder with the part# 5462063 RH rear with 1" diam piston. From the car came a part#5450408 also with 1" diam piston. can anyone tell me the difference between them? or can I use them both?

Well, I would normally turn to the MPB but you have one so will just say that Part #'s are often different than Casting #'s, and "GM" Part #'s are often superseded by new "GM" part #'s as the year's go by. First question is where are you seeing the 5450408#? Is it on a GM Box, stamped on the part, etc? Second, if it is on a GM box or part, did you check the MPB?  Third, did you google for that part # to find any cross references? When I rebuilt my brakes including the wheel cylinders 10+ years ago I ordered all from Kanter and forget their supplier brand, but am 99.9% sure it would have been some # other than the original GM Part #.

The part# is stamped on the part and Ik checked THE MPB that is why I got confused. I googled both #'s and it showed that they both could be used for the 63 cadillac. By the way it is a delco part . So I think it is safe to say that the part i removed is the same but newer and therefore has a different #.case solved i would say
