Im into removing door panel for water barrier and tge dand maual vent handle will not budge.  I dnt see any screw holding it on the threaded stem, and other than forcibly prying off, which hasnt fared well either, i dnt know what to do and dnt wat to break the plastick handle,   nor did i see any direct book instructions.  Am i missing something?

Check the shop manual, it should state how to remove the handle

I call myself reading it.  In the body section under doors, guess i missed it.  I hv since found an old article on the site about a spatula tool.  Found one at store, will try it

Harbor Freight $6.99 for the set, use tool on right for vent handle.

Pittsburgh® Automotive 38386 4 Piece Windshield/Door Trim Tool Set

i found one at oreilly,

i found a you tube video, guy used this tool on 60s GM windows,, he slid it over the handle, and it worked in about 1 second,, mine,, however did not,  i saw the clip he was pushing down in his video, but apparently, the clip in mine had gotten stuck or somehow turned,  long story short, after wedging pushing twisting prying for 4 hours, it came off..i could see where the clip had gotten stuck, i was almost at he point of cutting off as it simply would not move and pushing and pulling that clip was not working, finally, caught it with vise grips needle nose and pulled it out.. hand came off,,  real pain in the azz..  ,, got the paper off, wire brushed the bottom of the inside of door, vacuumed it out, and paint with a good coat of rust in hibitor on the inside bottom.. just surfrace rust mostly,, but, got it out and re sprayed,

not in any hurry to do other side after all that,,

Old cars are definitely a labor of love.  I find that beer and classic rock helps keep the calm in my garage.

The good news is that re-installing them is easy.  Just put the clip back on the handle into the groove it came out of, and push the handle back onto the shaft until the clip clicks back into place.  Good luck on the other side!

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
