Back when i was at home, i had noticed a minor vibratiin at abot 10 to 15 mph from a redlight.  I didnt think much of it till i got back to MT.  I had my friend down street who helps ne take it for a quick ride.  He got back and said it was driveshaft.  He crawlwd under there and pushed around while in neutral and it had a loose feel and knocked or clicked as if worn.  I told him i didnt think they were repairable on these cars per several post.  But then remebered Anders recently did one but was sure if condition warranted same repair.  The driveshafy is 178k old so im guessing it coukd be worn.  I read. Anders tuttorial and haviing done any driveshaft stuff, my neighbor is gonna help me and educate me along the way.   So is there a list of items from Anders repair that i can begin to search for parts ? Or any other suggestions.

Weather permitting, we are gonna try to get the DS out tomoorow and first give it Jasons test.

I posted this over in the help section as well as it relates to parts

since im in the middle of this, thought I would throw what I found over at this thread as well.  my DS stud balls had gotten misshapen, ( not my balls!!!!) and the needle bearings had worn into and left impressions in some of the stems were the caps slid over the U Joint.  decided to replace both balls and all 5 u joints,,, dont worry, not doing all this myself, I have help.

but finding the parts was interesting.  I used Clovis link to a Buick site and just ordered kit, no idea if it will fit but used the 62 to 71 Buick dates, and will see what shows up,

then went to Fort Wayne drive and clutch and tried to put in Cadillac, year, model etc and there system would not work or pull up our year.  so I found Clovis part number and stuck it in and it pulled up two items,, a stud ball and centering kit and a centering kit, both with same part number.  Product looks same except for one has the ball in it,  Its currently available. but the other kit, same part number without the ball, is not available so. I should also note, as Clovis said, its fitment description is several Buicks and the 63 through I think 67 caddy.  So I both three sets of the ones with the ball, in case of disaster and also the one from the Buick place, just to see if it was the same part.  the link to the page with the two parts packages is https://fortwayneclutch.com/?s=211011X&post_type=product&ti...

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
