I am considering replacing the shocks in my 64 SDV. They're not terrible, but are a little too wishy-washy. I want to replace them with shocks that most closely approximate the original damping rate so that the original ride feel is not changed.

I am NOT after "handling" or anything that will firm up the ride -just as smooth a ride as was intended by our cars' manufacturer.

So, who likes what for this?

Thanks

Norm

I have been running and selling the Gabriel Gas Cushioned shocks as a good new replacement for at least 20 years now!  The front shock is 82109, and the rears are 82125.   They give excellent "shock absorption and dampening". The will of course not do anything to fix the support, or non-support rather, of 60+ year old coil springs. The only issue with he Gabriel shocks has been that the upper stud on the rears are a bit short to get both rubber bushing on, and you have to cut one thick bushing in halve, or find thinner bushings. I simply cut them in half. The set that are on my car now, again have been there I'm guessing 20 years. If I had driven the car harder or put more miles I might swap them out, but for now they  work great.

I do keep a few sets on hand and sell these for $35 each to non-members, or $25 to Chapter Members.
You can also find them at various places online, but have not searched recently. If interested in a set email me.

There are probably other good gas cushioned shock substituted but I have no experience with other brands.  Jason.

These Gabriel Gas shocks are excellent!  A great recommendation.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
