Hello All
Recently, my 64 SDV became tough to cold start. No amount of pumping would get it to fire, but a little gas poured down the carb would cause it to start right up. When I started looking at the carb I was amazed to find that the accelerator pump was not working/or the passages are clogged (I favor the first). In any case the carb has to come off.
Amazingly, there is no initial stumble or hesitation from the car, it runs flawlessly. So much so that I'm reluctant to touch it, but the pump circuit is not working, so it has to be examined. I am always a little gun-shy of just taking the top off because I'm worried I'll drop a small part in to the carburetor.
Is there a procedure that must be followed regarding the spacer/gasket(s)?
I have rebuilt many AFB's but only on Imperials (which do not have a spacer or any special requirements for making a good seal).
So, is there any sealer or spray or prep I should know about?
Thanks
Norm

Mystery solved!
While it was the accelerator pump "Circuit" it was not the pump that was causing my problem, it was the oblong brass check valve that sits in the circuit passage right before the pump jet outlets are. It was stuck, so I slapped the carb with a rubber mallet, sprayed on top of the valve and pushed down on the accelerator pump (which I inserted by itself), and VOILA! The valve shot out, I cleaned it, sprayed the tube it rides in and the circuit now sprays and the car starts. Job done.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
