I live in CA. I’m a relative newbie to working on my own car. My ‘64 DV Conv fuel tank had a corrosion hole. I leave near OPG and picked up a replacement tank today and installed it. Simple enough job. Car is running great’ no leaks, sending unit is working as it should, and there seems to be no issue. However, the tank I picked up was a no vent tank with a vented fuel cap. When I filled up the tank at the gas station I could not get a full tank, as the pump nozzel shut off kept kicking off and I had some spillage. And there was some gurgling. With the fuel neck lower than the top of the tank, the need for a vent became apparent. Is there anything I can do short of putting in another new tank? Fill using a long funnel, which probably won’t help...or????
By the way, the replacement tank does not have a drain, which I thought odd...
Thanks for your thoughts and feedback.

I guess I am confused since the 26 gallon replacement tank I see advertised on the OPGI Website (Click Here) not only has the drain plug and vent tube, but some sort of extra port on the corner. The orientation of the vent tube, sending unit opening doesn't make sense. Click Here to see the tank I come up with on their site when I search on say 1964 de Ville Cadillac.
As far as spillage up at the top of the filler tube, I would say just go easy as it fills and there's nothing that requires gas to fill all the way up into the filler tube. Since the gas pump nozzle is small compared to the old "regular gas nozzles" and the tube is wide (1.5" or more), i think it should fill up OK unless you were sitting on a hill with the front of the tank pointed upward forming a sealed air pocket as the tank gets near the top. Regardless, I am curious which tank you bought. I also remember they sold a smaller (maybe 20 gallon) tank but don't even see it on the site any more.
Here is the tank I see when I search on my 64 CDV at OPGI. With the weird orientation of everything I am asuming the one you bought looks nothing like this 26 gallon tank:
That gas tank has the orientation for the Commercial Chassis, with the exception of the sending unit hole.
I see zero issues. You have a nice new shiny tank and just need to watch topping it off. We all have to pick our battles. Your only battle is topping it off at the gas pump. Many complain about spillage out of the vent pipe ...you have eliminated that potential issue.
Fuel tank works great. Fuel sending unit works great. Gas gauge works great. No gas smell coming up the laundry chute from the garage into to my wife''s closet. He is VERY HAPPY!

That is fantastic and good to know the tank works as a replacement!
When I followed Jason's link, there is a button that you click to check vehicle fitment. That pulls up a set of descriptors, for the vehicles the tank works with. In the description, it states that there is no vent, drain, or neck.
I'm glad the tank is functioning satisfactorily! Corrosion (or any other) holes in a fuel tank are no joke! Replacing that tank as you did was the best thing you could have done. :)
That is consistent with what Michael indicated in the original post regarding no vent pipe, (has vented cap), and no drain. I am not sure what no neck means, other than not provided with the tank (i.e. you use the filler neck and hard masticated rubber hose that came with the car).

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
