Hi All,

I just posted a blog of my experience in converting the factory A/C in my '63 Series 62 Convertible to R134a.  Everything works great, but I would be more comfortable if I knew where the drain hose for the evaporator case was located so I could inspect it.  I'm getting a lot of condensate running out of the bottom of the right front fender, but I can't see the condensate drain from under the car.  Anyone have any photos or tips on finding it?  The shop manual and parts list publications don't show this detail.

Michael I am attaching a photo of an evaporator marked to show where the drain tube is attached to the evaporator. The tube is reproduced and available if you are wanting to replace it.  I'm not sure if it is possible to replace the tube with the evaporator in the car or not though.

Thanks Gene!  That helps a lot!  I'm guessing that you can't see this tube at all from outside/underneath the car?  It must drain into a body cavity and eventually water finds its way out?

do keep in mind that the water still leaks through that short hose and then will come out at the bottom of the fender anyway. I tried tracking the water flow so that I could use a rubber hose exiting directly out of the car, but the passage winds like a maze through a couple layers of metal and you cant get a direct passage. I almost though of drilling a hole, but gave up and just kept working because that would have been time consuming. 

Maybe a better idea would have been to use bed-liner spray but again, I was just trying to get the job done. Its a fun one!

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great!
