Dear Listmates,
Does anyone have a replacement Carter AFB Carb (3655S) (or know where I can get one quickly) for my '64 De Ville Conv. (with the Transmission solenoid and bolt on mounting plate for the throttle assembly)?
I'm in a bit of jam...
My direct email is Michael.Vogler@gmail.com. PH. 626-375-5843.
Thanks, in advance!
Michael Vogler.

These 58+ year old carbs are getting harder and harder to find. They are out there but not as readily as they were 20 years ago. I have 6 customers on my Wait List looking with Wait Time spanning back a couple years. You may get lucky and find one "quickly". If not, the Eldelbrock 1406 is a good substitute with only a few issues that you will have to be addressed. For more info on this carb and the larger CFM 1400 check out this link: Carburetor - Edelbrock 1406 & 1411 Installation Summary
Thank you for the reply and suggestion.
Thank you, Ray. I will check it out.
Tony,
Thank you for the detailed reply and advice. I'm trying to keep the car as stock as possible, but I recognize that the age of the car may make that impossible ultimately. Mike
I have a core that will need to be professionally rebuilt. It needs a good sonic cleaning. 100.00 It is the 3656S and has a rebuilt kick down switch and bracket.

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
