When I got my 1963, I was in High School (1977).  The Cadillac was not valuable at the time. Over the years I purchased auto parts from the parts store and kept it running.  Now the car is worth something and all those replacement parts are wearing out.  I have started to source original parts and have them rebuilt (renewing the originality of the car). Jason sent me an alternator core with the right markings, and I had it rebuilt.  Jason asked where and I realized, most people do not have the right source to have them rebuilt.  I had my rebuilt at
Richer Auto & Truck Electric
4145 Avenida De La Plata,
Oceanside, CA 92056
(760) 757-1201
James Richer
It is excellent in every way. The "new in 1963" alternator is not this good. The stampings, and casting numbers are correct. The outside is all 1963, but there is nothing on the inside that is not new or improved. I think it would not get any points reduction in a concourse inspection, but it is rock solid and will power that grateful dead 8 track at 120 decibels
Richer Auto is an old company, been around for years and has done mostly wholesale to the trade, but this morning he is telling me a growing part of his business is restoration and individuals that are restoring classic cars, there is also a group of customers with race (Harsh environment) applications.
It turns out he would be available to people who appreciate quality. If you want cheap, Ebay or the local Advance Auto will still be the place with a Chinese rebuild and a "life time warranty" but if you want the right part, this is a great source
Oh,  I think these would be North of $200
Thanks

Substantially more than the original.  I am not sure if Jim did me a favor or if he would do it for you - ask him, but I am not short of amps

Frank, Thanks for providing the rebuilders info. I had added this to our Parts Supplier page earlier today. Always good to have good sources for this type of service.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
