My tank got ruined while being stored at a friends house and i need to replace it. Looks like someone put a hydraulic jack under it and just jacked it up, crushing the tank and splitting the seam.
I am looking for information on either a reproduction or a used tank. Anyone have any experience either way?
Thank you

That tank looks as if it was in new condition. Sad to see that. There are replacement tanks out there but they are several gallons less then the original tank. Try rock auto they seem to be the cheapest for everything.

Yeah it was in excellent condition. It was very upsetting to find the tank smashed up and nobody knowing how it happened or who did it.

Tony are the aftermarket tanks smaller in width to allow a dual exhaust system?

Many Cadillac parts sellers sell aftermarket gas tanks. Here is an example:

1963 1964 Cadillac Gas Tank

"PLEASE NOTE NOT EXACT TANK  It holds 4 gallons less than the original for 1963-1968 but this will fit and bolt correctly without any modifications. There will be a 4" void in the underbody cavity of your car that will affect nothing."

The 4 gallons less will help when fitting dual system. It might also be good to have 4 gallons less when storing the car in winter.

Robert you have air bags on your car correct? Is it possible that you dropped it on something like a curb or left something under it when working on it?
Yeah it's on bags. It was being stored since April there. They said they had noticed a leak in the back last month and apparently didn't think anything of it. The jack also made the perfect indent and spacing into the tank, that was sitting off to the side. I am also pretty careful when I drop and it's on 1/4" line so it's painfully slow when it drops and raises, lol
Ahhh the evidence doesn't lie LOL
Lol yeah it sucks and I feel they really don't know how it happened, so I feel bad for them. I think there grandson was messing around in the garage and did it.

I would say it is time for the grandson, or whoever did this, to own up to some responsibility, else gramps locks down the garage (and any other unsupervised area of their home) to any and all for good.  I could definitely see this happening to a youngster in a garage just playing around like the grown-ups; but, whoever did this needs to own up to it.

Would it be possible, somebody left the jack partly under the car and it came down (leaked air out) on the jack all on its own?

Just a thought.

No there was nothing in the way when I pulled it in and air it down. Plus the jack, when released is lower than my tank, so the only way for it to hit the tank is for someone to jack it up.

Pretty crook someone would do that and not be man enough to fess up on it.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
