As i have had a little starter trouble.  i was wondering,

after you turn the key, and the starter turns over and the engine starts,, does the starter have any further input or drain on the engine from the start forward.

Since the other day, when i had that episode where the engine fired up quickly after a 4 day layoff, and rode nicely for 30 minutes,, then, when i shut it down for 30 minutes, it was a complete no go,, just that heavy clunk sound... then,, 2 hours later, fires right up, and every day since, it has fired up immediately, so i am just wondering if there could be something else involved, and is the starter isolated from battery charge etc once the engine is running,, does it have any more function once started

Sincerely

Kim

battery is less than 3 months old,,

starter rebuilt from usa parts, just got it a month ago as well,

will check the ignition, tomorrow, but haven't notice any plastic burning smell,,

hat the thought of another starter,, they are not cheap,,,

ok,, will head to the parts store to let them check it out,, give the ignition a check as well tomorrow..

thanks again,,

well i think my question has been answered,, maybe,

i went out to day to try and start,, it clicked twice,, then no click, then started to smell plastic burning,,, guessing i will need a new ignition switch??

Take the connector off and look for heat damage/discoloration. You may just need to change an individual connector in the plastic housing.

Just so were talki ng apples to appkes, this would be the wiring going into the ignition were the key goes in, correct? I was doing prelininary searching for part, and they gave mostly the ignition cylinder as the part. Is thatvthe part, which if it is bad, is the partvi need to replace? Or is there a part behind there that would be were all the connections are made?

I will ck wiring today for burned wiring, first to see if this is problem

Thanks
Just pulled it out tried to stsrt an sure nuff. Sm9ke coming out of the cylnder were the connections are made.

Secondly, there was a connection with no connection. Wat woukd that piece acomodate. I think i had a red ,yellow , pink an purple connected w an addition slot open.

yes could see it smoking,, wires looked ok,, photos attached for interest of the damage,,

, first   the temp ignition on generic set up,  red to battery, pint to ignition and purple to solenoid,

second picture is the inside of the starter where its burnt,  stinks,, smells like an old fireplace when you touch it,, the burn smell sticks to hands,,

current damaged ignition set up,, what is the blank stem for,, is there another something that should be attached to the ignition starter besides pink red yellow purple??

when i turn it on and wow,, it really started strong,,no sag, no delay,, will order parts when they open back up again

Kim, you have a generic ignition switch, and the 5th post is not used out the 63/64.  I have a better than generic ignition switch, as it has the correct mount lug with the correct depth set in. tested good, you just put in your lock & key.

Todays black Friday special is 15.00 for a good used ignition switch.

Well do i go to your paypal acct?
Secondly, on the temp switch i hv hooked up now, i dont thv the yellow attached to anything, per Jason edge hotwire video. Wat am i by passing in my systm not hving yellow wire hooked up

things i have now noticed since the temp switch put in,

when radio is on, and i turn on the temp control levers, it shuts down the radio,

heater/defrost controls do not work,, guessing mush have to do with that yellow wire??

The yellow wire is the accessory feed, so your radio and other do dads wont work if there is no power to that.

email me at  russ85747@hotmail.com if you want the ignition switch.  The black Friday price ends soon , so email me with your zip code. After today, the price goes up.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
