Hello all. New member and new to classic cadillacs so I have some questions. Last year I got my hands on a resto-mod 63 coupe deville project and have been making good progress till now. I don't have any of the original throttle linkage/pedal assembly including the TV rod. Would not having the TV rod hooked up yet cause the transmission not to upshift?

Hi James,
Albeit I am not an expert on transmissions, that TV rod should be hooked up to the linkage, especially when higher throttle is used. Maybe Jason Edge would have the TV rod off of one of the parts cars? Pretty sure it is a must with the Hydra-matic transmission.

Most of my experience is with small block chevys so I'm a bit out of my wheelhouse on this one but I'm enjoying learning new stuff. I have never been very good with transmissions in the first place so this hydra matic is completely unknown territory to me
I am not a Hydra-Matic expert but do know you need the TV Rod. I have them like new gold cadmium plated for $65 ($48.75 for Chapter Members) with the correct connectors at both ends to connect to transmission at bottom and carb throttle plate at top. You can see them by Clicking Here.
If interested in one of mine, or other parts, email me at jasonedge64@outlook.com
My problem is I have none of the original throttle assembly so I will have to fabricate something which won't be an issue. Is there anything vacuum controlled on the transmission?
There is no vacuum to the 1963/64 Hydramatic. The Turbo Hydramatic introduced in 1964 on certain body styles had a vacuum modulator but not the HydraMatic.
James,
There should be a vacuum modulator on the side of the transmission.

Not on the HydraMatic.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
