The keys that came with the 1963 convertible I got in July don't match the door locks. I probably won't lock the car often (or ever) because I've heard too many stories of tops getting cut to steal a couple bucks worth of change. However, I live in fear that someone will lock me out of the car. Plus, I just want to have working locks. I think I can get replacements with keys cheaper than getting the lock re-keyed.

I've read that there are short and longer lock cylinders and that they are not interchangeable. Is there any way to know which ones I've got short of taking the door apart? I know I will have to take it apart to install the replacements, but would like to do the dis-assemble and re-assembly at the same time if possible.

Also, any tips on changing out the locks. I plan to replace all  the locks in the car (2 doors, trunk, ignition, glove box).

Any and all help and tips appreciated!

Karl, I have lock sets available.  From the factory, the door and ignition key are the same.  Trunk and glove box are the same.

I have just the doors or matching sets.  email me at  russ85747@hotmail.com

Short lock cylinders are for sedans, long cylinders for coupes & convertibles. I have the door locks with keys but not with matched ignition switch for $25. My email is jasonedge@nc.rr.com

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
