Hello all!

Just a short update this evening!

I wrestled with the exhaust manifold studs and ultimately chickened out on replacing all 4 of the studs. I only replaced the stud that I spun the threads off of. I bought extra studs at ACE hardware and will replace them when the time comes, however, the other 3 studs still accepted their fine thread nut and tightened down very nicely, so instead of poke the beast even more, I counted my victory and replaced the seals and bolted everything back up! I just used a stud puller I purchased at O'Reilly's.

One note that I wasn't too happy with. The PS manifold stud I replaced was a little longer that I wanted it to be, however, it was the shortest ACE had on hand. The course thread side into the manifold was perfect, however, the fine thread side was way too long. In the center of the studs is just dead space with no threads. On the original I pulled out, there was MAYBE 1/8" of non threaded stud there. So the ones I purchased were WAY too long for the passenger side. Luckily, I purchased several extra nuts and drilled the threads out of the nuts and used those as spacers. That worked really well, however, it does look a little hocky if you look under there and there are 3 nuts on one stud. OH WELL. Its fixed and tight and I will keep an eye one it.

I also re installed the riser with the removed flapper instead of purchasing a spacer. This way, it still looks stock if someone were to ever get under the car. I just used a Dremel tool and ground the welds out and the pin pulled right out. EZ PZ.

Went for a long ride around the town and no issues to report. Does not appear to be any exhaust leaks at this time and everything is back in place!

I'll call this a successful weekend project! Now to clean up the garage mess and shine the car up for a show this weekend. Still building up the nerve to pull the intake, however, with this project down, everything else should be accessible from under the hood, not lying on my back.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
