Now that I am past the radiator project (and a couple of house projects), I can pick away at the my 64 Coupe de Ville Dino a bit. Today I installed the left driver side cad plated fender skirt brackets. Pretty straight forward leaned up my hubcap (wheel cover) a bit while I had the skirt off.
When I took the first bracket off, caked with undercoating and 60 years of road grim, etc. and flipped it over and saw the gold cadmium plating it reminded me how I often get into this 'argument' with people that look at their bolts and fasteners after being painted over, tared over, and just weathered away and tell them to flip that bolt or washer or bracket or whatever over and take a look at the plating ... it will be gold cadmium. I have saved dozens of example pictures just like this one as proof in the pudding.
Here here is the freshly plated fender skirt brackets installed:

I am going to be working on my 64 Coupe de Ville "Dino" off and on this fall and winter and will do a "Dino Diaries" series and post updates, excursions, issues, problems, successes, etc. for discussion.
As a Chapter Member you are all encouraged to do the same with your own 63 or 64 Cadillac!
I have a set of the cad plated skirt brackets. I am a Bachelor tonight as Annie is gone for a meeting. Perhaps Ill utilize my heated garage for once and get that done!
Side note, still LOVING those tires. When I do my front end rebuild, I'll be getting those tires, no questions asked.
Did you replace the spare tire with one of these as well? Or are you still rocking a factory original tire?
I think it is the exact same tire - the BF Goodrich Silvertown 8.2x15 Bias Ply with 1" whitewall.
I haven't had it off the shelf in a long time but know it is an original 8.2x15 bias ply because the 235-75-15 Radials are too wide to fit on the shelf. That is true for any of the shelf mounted body styles including the coupes (6257, 6357) and 4 window sedans (6239, 6339).
Good idea if you have the radial.

I meant to make this a priority over the winter and didn't get that far. I've tried to source all the parts individually, but that is a daunting task. Partly because I don't want to miss any…Continue

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
