I’ve owned 2 ’64 Fleetwood 60 Specials. My first was a white with navy cloth and leather car that I bought for $200 in 1976. I wanted a parts car for my other $200 ’64 Cadillac project: a gold, black top, palomino interior Eldorado. The Eldo had a smoky engine and was very tired. The Fleetwood was in tip top condition, but had a loud noise under the car that I later determined was a badly worn CV joint in the driveshaft. It was originally a brass hat for the Salt Lake City Cadillac dealer, but had worked its way to the San Fernando Valley by the ‘70s, where it became a daily driver until the CV joint scared the owners into dumping it. I cannibalized this car for the Eldo and put about another 100,000 miles on the drive train.
The black one was in amazing original condition. It was bought new by the wife of a mill owner in Gastonia, NC and had a mobile telephone in the car originally. The whip antenna was mounted on the forward lip of the rear deck lid. It had the black brocade and white leather interior. A friend bought the car from the original family about 1983, took it to Tampa, then to L.A., where I eventually acquired it. I sold it about 1993. It changed hands locally a few times and eventually went to New Zealand, I believe

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
