A question for the Comfort Control Gurus.

I recently pulled my glove box tray out to clean and fix a crack. While I was in there, I noted this gave access to several of the comfort control components. When I bought the car, the system worked. It then stopped working and I have never taken the time to diag the issues.

I noted that the .4 ohm resistor in the air box was slightly charred and the factory connector had been replaced. I removed the two fasteners to inspect and found a shotty solder job and a broken connection.

This would explain why my whole system did not work.

A few questions.

  1. Why is this resistor located IN the air box? Does resistance change based on air temp? Or is it simply to keep the resistor wire cool?
  2. Can I replace with any old .4 ohm resistor? From my reading, the only purpose of this resistor is to offer lower fan speeds in the first AC detent. When the second detent (red triangle) is selected, the resistor should be bypassed and allows for higher fan speeds according to the Comfort Control manual from T Groves.

  1. Is this resistor a special part? When looking online, suppliers such as Caddy Daddy and Cadillac Parts and Restoration have several variants none of which look like mine. Mine was a single coil of wire with spade terminals on the outside. Some others I’ve seen have multiple loops of wire. What’s the difference?

Thanks for the help all!

The resistor is in the airflow to keep cool.  I would try just a regular resistor to start with. Radio Shack closing was a huge loss to alot of different hobbyists. There is always on line.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
