Is there supposed to be carpet inside the '64 Eldo center console?
There is carpet in mine, and it's a deeper pile than what's on the floor (which has probably been replaced.)
Here's some pix of mine. Thoughts?
Thanks, Van

Thanks for the reply, Kurt. Just relearning my '64 trivia.
Did the console carpet originally match the type, weight and style of carpet as on the floor of the '64 Eldos?
Sorry, don't know the answer to that. Also to note, my option spec manual is for 1963 (Narra wood, not Baku). This would be a good trivia question for Jason to post to the forum. We haven't had one for a while : )
I looked at some of my stock photos of consoles and they appear to match the floor covering carpet. Keep in mind that either could have been changed out over the years. Looking at our Carpet Help Page, the 64 Eldo originally came with Tremont quality, rayon-nylon, cut pile.
Thanks Jason. My mom drove a new '64 CdV back in the day, and my best friend's dad had a '63 Eldo. Neither car had buckets seats/console, but I recall the carpet in his Eldo being deeper pile and softer than in my mom's car. (Yes, I obsessed over car details like that, at age 5.) Your Carpet Help Page confirmed that for me.
Is any vendor making the exact correct Tremont cut pile? Every 1964 repro carpet I've ever seen has the nap not as thick/plush as I remember.
Thanks, Van
My ‘64 Eldorado has luxurious pile carpet inside too.
Im not sure, but my 64 Eldorado does have some at the bottom.

Okay, I think I figured it out.
The original carpet on the bottoms of my car's bucket seats matches the carpet in the center console.
So, logic would tell me that those are true and original.
The carpet on the floor in my car has obviously been changed. Does anyone have a source for exact reproduction Tremont quality floor carpet for '64s? Or maybe some NOS stuff hidden away?

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
