...and why I would take a pristine Donor car and Part It out?

To allow me and many others to find parts such as the absolutely pristine Cowl Cover and Grill, so we can continue to upgrade and restore our Cadillacs!

At this point I would guess about 3 dozen parts have found their way from the 41K mile Fleetwood to my 1964 Coupe DeVille and many more have already been delivered to destinations around the globe to help others take their car to the next level. I often tell people I would rather take parts from a car like this and transfer to my "keeper" rather than a rust bucket that has sat in a field for 30 years.  My parts business also helps me finance my next project on the Caddy so in that respect, it is a Win-Win.

With that said, I have to say I have had a fantastic time since my retirement picking off items from the Fleetwood and transferring them to my Coupe DeVille. One of the latest items is the Cowl Cover and Grill you see below which has been repainted Sierra Gold. The chrome cowl grill was by far the very best example of these I have ever come across with almost zero pitting and nice smooth chrome on the ends. The metal cowl cover was also like new... so I all I to do was have my paint/body man respray and change the color from Midnight Blue to Gold.

Anyway, I thought I would share a bit as you probably see me just answering questions and hawking parts for sale, but it is really just the tip of the iceberg for me.

There are plenty of us out here who appreciate what you do, Jason. Here's that '64 Fleetwood's nicer trunk mat replacing my '63's stained and ratty one (on the ground).

I've got a daughter in college and another headed there soon; it's not easy to free up wads of discretionary cash to spend on my "garage baby." If not for your super-affordable prices on original parts, I wouldn't be taking on projects like this trunk material upgrade...I'd just settle for closing the trunk lid before anyone can see inside. Now, instead of being an eyesore, my trunk will stay open at car shows as part of a display to show people what these beautiful cars looked like half a century ago. That wouldn't be happening without this site and your parts business.

Thanks Tony, It is always rewarding to see the parts going to help others.   Speaking of the trunk, the fabric covered cardboard sidewalls went into a 1963 Eldorado that is being fully restored that had nothing back there and this car is owned by our local CLC Region member Les Eastling so I will get to see some of these parts at future region meet-ups.
