Additional Links in Website Header

Since I didn't want to have too many rows of links, I have added additional sub links under some of the main header links up top. For example,  if you wanted to check out our Chapter Shirts, you would hover your mouse cursor over the 63/64 Chapter link which then opens up a drop down box with the following links:…

1964 Series 60 Special, No Heat, BRRRRR!

Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving.

Driving the Big Blue Girl the other day and noticed I am not getting any heat. Took the heater control valve out and got a little movement out of it when applying vacuum. Seemed a little corroded but not bad. With the hand held vacuum pump, {self bleeder}, I was blowing through the unit and it did open and close.

I put it back in and noticed not much to no vacuum coming from the red vacuum line to the top of the diaphragm whether on 65 or…

63 Tail Fin Assembly Gaskets

I removed the tailfin lamp assemblies on my 63 (was not easy getting that top bolt out in the tip of the fin) to have them re-chromed.  The rubber gaskets  where the plastic lenses snug up against are not bad and could be reused but the gaskets where the chrome housing meets the body are in poor condition and I was wondering if anyone knew of a supplier for these.  If not has anyone had any luck trying to re-produce them? Any advice would be most welcome.  Thanks.

Ignition timing.

Hi Guys.

i am a bit puzzled with my timing. I installed everything according the manual. But when i fire it up flames come out of the exhaust manifolds or the carb. could i have made the 180 degrees mistake ? The timing marks can either point for the # 1 cilinder or the # 6 i believe . cees.

'63 Cadillac battery cables

Hello everyone,

Want to check my understanding of the battery cable hook up for my '63 Cadillac.

I have the negative cable connected to the negative post... then bolts to the frame just below the battery.

The positive cable connects to the pos post and then to the starter connection.     Also the felt washers are to be soaked in oil before installation onto the bat posts per the shop manual... anyone do this anymore?

Heading out to Carolina Collector Auto Fest

Will be heading out to the last car show of the year at the Carolina Collector Auto Fest at the NC State Fairgrounds & Historic Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC in about an hour.  I've been full blast getting my interior out and some problem areas addressed for the past 2 or 3 weeks and looking forward to driving and enjoying the car again. I really doubted I could have it ready in time for the car show and meetup with our Eastern North Carolina CLC Region members, but got er done just in…

Running Rough

I recently completed a complete engine rebuild on my 64 CDV.  I have a continuing problem (both before and after the rebuild).  When I am stuck in traffic and the car begins to run real hot, but not overheated,  the car runs very rough and will stall out unless you are able to make it out to open road in which it will sputter a bit, but begin to run perfectly once the operating temp drop down a bit.  I have replaced the carb at a different time from the rebuild and it made no difference, the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on December 6, 2023 at 10:54am 0 Comments

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
