I can not leave my car alone. So the hood hinges, after having them chromed, were horrible loose and would bow out and not let the hood sit flush in the back, they needed to be rebuilt. I ordered the hood pins from Russ and rebuilt one side of the hinges, because I found I did really have to rebuild both sides. The holes weren't wallowed out, the pins were just loose, I think from the chrome company polishing as close the pin as possible and took too much material out. I decide to just…

What should the vacuum be at for the door locks and trunk?
I am, at idle, around 18-20 inHg, but it does not seem to be enough to raise or lower the door locks or release the trunk. So I vacuum tested the drivers door and it checked out (no leaks/ held vacuum), still would not raise or lower lock, should the other doors be checked or do I just not have enough vacuum?

I am striking out on finding a trunk pull down cable, has anyone used a different cable?
I was thinking maybe a bicycle cable of some kind.
Is there a way to close the trunk without the cable to pull it the rest of the way down?

Anyone had any issues with trans fluid leaking out of the dipstick? I cant find any other leaks coming out of the transmission. I checked the fluid when it was warm and in park and the fluid was right where it was suppose to be. But it is leaking and dripping all over the underneath of the frame . Any suggestions would be helpful.

Now that I am final driving the car, I am finding things that need to be addressed. I bought new rear bushings for the lower rear control arm that holds the axle and they are both torn, so the arms sit crooked now. Is there some poly ones or is there a special way to press them in?
When I pressed them in, I tried to center the bushings in the arms. The lower rear ones is suppose to keep the axle from flexing sideways, but should be allowed to move up and down? It looks like they tore…

I am working on a 63 Fleetwood series 62.
Does anyone have experience gapping the doors and what is the procedure from point A to B, what is the starting point? I can not get them just right, I looked up the gaps they are to be 3/16 to 1/4. I started from the back doors and am trying to work my way to the fenders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 63 Fleetwood 60 special. I shut my trunk today and it will not release with the vacuum or the key, I can not get it to unlock. I could really use some help with this rather frustrating issue. Thank you.

Do I need the original spacer with the new Edelbrock 1406?
I did not plug up the intake holes in the "gutter" will that be an issue with the new carb?
Last question, is the vacuum advance for the distributor a full time vacuum or is it a part time vacuum?
Thank you everyone for your time

Does anyone know where I can get the pre bent hose for the water pump to the metal tube under the intake or is there a trick to getting a 90 degree bend and the pre bent hoses for the rear (the two hoses from the motor to the heater core)
Thank you

I read a post a while back about high output alternators has anyone gone through it or had a problems?
I am possible looking at 100-140 amp, I have two air pumps, dual batteries, and eventually a large stereo, plus the existing electrical system.
I am ready for one for my 63 Cadi, finally got the motor and trans in, and I would like some input.

Are there any challenges not using the rubber hoses at the ends of the hard lines on the fuel line to tank, fuel line to pump and trans cooler lines?
I want to use fittings on the ends of both the fuel tank lines and the transmission cooling lines.
My only concern was vibration as to why they used rubber hoses on the ends, other than that I see no reason why they can't be hard lined all the way.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
