Are there any challenges not using the rubber hoses at the ends of the hard lines on the fuel line to tank, fuel line to pump and trans cooler lines?
I want to use fittings on the ends of both the fuel tank lines and the transmission cooling lines.
My only concern was vibration as to why they used rubber hoses on the ends, other than that I see no reason why they can't be hard lined all the way.

I think that would work and look clean, that was a concern that I had. Better safe than sorry.
As Jason said, the rubber lines are there for the slight shifting between the components. The engine/transmission move on their mounts and the body shifts some on it's mounts. I would be afraid of something cracking and leaking if those fluid line items were tied solidly.
Instead of a black rubber flex connection with hose clamps, have you thought about a flexible stainless braided line? You could have the solid connection with fasteners but the flexible clean look of the stainless braided line.
I was just going for a cleaner look, I thought it would look a little nicer with hard lines, I am replacing the hard lines anyway. I just could not get them cleaned up enough.
Just my opinion but unless you want perhaps the cleaner "look" of all metal lines I would simply replace the hoses as needed with appropriate grade hoses. I dropped my gas tank a year or so. and the old original lines had held up 48 years...but needed replacing, and replaced with new fuel grade hoses and should have to worry about them for a long time. If you want metal to metal lines there are many ways to skin that cat. Since there is flex in the body to frame, in addition to of the obvious suspension movement, I personally prefer the rubber.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
