Ken, My Ward's Automotive yearbook do not have it broken down to that detail, just overall option % for the entire year for all body styles. I would expect somewhere in the GM Archives there are such numbers but I have never seen it.

If I had to do some wild guessing I would estimate over 2/3's of the 1825 Eldorado's came with bucket seats, since it was a no cost option... so of the 4,569 we know came with bucket seats I would guess  1200 Eldos with bucket seats. That leaves you with 3369 bucket seats that went in to other cars. I am sure the Series 62 convertibles would have had a very high comparative % and could see as many as 10% to 15% of the 17,600 produced for another wild guess of 2200 (12.5%) Series 62 convertibles with bucket seats. So my extremely wild guess, before coffee this morning is

1,200 Eldos
2,200 Series 62 Convertibles
1,169 going toward the other body styles eligible for for bucket seats (Coupe de Ville, 4 Window Sedan de Ville, Park Avenue Sedan de Ville)

Regardless don't hold me to any of this.. just some guessing on my part.

Thanks for the reply Jason and greatly appreciated. Yea there's a '64 Eldorado conv. thats registered for Mecum here in Indy in a couple of weeks and in the description they say one of 1870 with buckets so it made me curious about mine and also where they got that info.

I'll do some digging and see what I can find. If I learn anything I'll let you know.

Thx again!

Ken, there were 1,870 Eldorados produced for the 1964 Model year but that would have included buckets and bench seat. Like for the 1963, my info does not break down bucket seat % by body style and would again guess about 2/3's for 1964 since it was a again a no cost option and popular for the convertibles.  That would calculate to another wild guess of about 1245 1964's with bucket seats. Again, just my guess based on observation over the years.

I wonder, if any maniac ever put buckets in a Fleetwood?

I would think, it highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

I don't think it was a Fleetwood but I remember Jason parting out a four-door of some sort that had buckets. An interesting difference is they didn't have to fold forward for someone to get in the back seat so the backs were fixed.

Bucket seats were available as follows:

1963:
Eldorado Biarritz (no cost optional)
Series 62 Convertible
Coupe de Ville
Sedan de Ville 4 Window
Sedan de Ville Park Avenue

Sedan de Ville 6 Window (special order option)

1964:
Fleetwood Eldorado
de Ville Convertible
Coupe de Ville

Sedan de Ville 4 Window
Sedan de Ville 6 Window (special order option)

NOTE: in the 1964 Spec Manual in one section it says not available for Fleetwood 60 Special, but in a bucket seat availability chart it says "Communicate with Central Office for information" which makes me believe if someone pushed hard enough they might have been able to order a 64 Fleetwood 60 Special with bucket seats. It would have had the "Fleetwood" correct center console with the Baku wood grain panel on top cover, and seats may have been from the Eldorado altered to lock in place and not tilt forward.

From memory I believe I have brought in at least 2 Sedan's with bucket seats, maybe 3. All were of course Sedan de Villes.

no cost option on the 1963 Eldorado Biarritz, and 1964 Fleetwood Eldorado.

They were optional items for 1963 Series 62 Convertible, 4 Window Sedan de Villes and Sedan de Ville Park Avenue. They were special order optional items for the

2nd Part of this question...and one Tony will really find amusing.... What Percentage of 1963 Model Year Lincolns came with bucket seats?

ps... for Extra points why do I use that particular picture when I congratulate someone and say they "get the cigar"?.  This is not car related... but if you know your Rock N Roll it will be easy.

So, Lincoln had a higher % of AC equipped cars in 1963 than Cadillac. Who wants to guess at the % of 1963 Lincolns with bucket seats?

I would have only been guessing at the original question but I'm pretty sure I know the answer to extra points part:

That photo is from  the album cover of "Wish You Were Here"by Pink Floyd and that album contains the song "Have a Cigar"

I'll also take a stab at the Lincoln part of the question because As much as I like my '63 Caddy, I also really like the four door Lincoln convertibles.

I'll guess 0% figuring bucket seats were not offered for '63 Lincolns.

Ian knocks it Waaaaaaaay out of the park in the extra points questions. 0 bucket seats in 1963 Lincolns, and picture is cover of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album, which included the song "Have a Cigar!". Speaking of cigars, Ian... Have a Couple of Cigars!

Didn't see that you answered this yourself, before I posted my previous comment.

Always been a Pink Floyd fan and have all records on cd, some even as cassette and LP!

I have many regrets in my life and on the top 10 list is the missed Roger Waters Berlin Wall concert with 350k plus people in 1990. Have seen it so many times on dvd & u-tube. Favorite part is ofc when Scorpions enter. Sends a chill down the spine.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
