Patrick Westphal replied to Michael Stinson's discussion Replace Choke Tube or Install Electric Choke?
"My recommendation is to switch to an electric choke. I don’t have a brand or model number for you as mine came with the Edelbrock carb when I replaced it. Anyway the power to the choke needs to come from the ignition which has 12 volts on it…"

Correct whitewalls

I just replaced my tires from Diamondback (I had bad results in the past from Coker).  It was the second time, due to the age of the tires.  About 18 years ago Diamondback made custom whitewalls based upon the original spare tire in my car.  They are perfect and run great—and they are radials.  I called them up, and they were able to look up my original order.  I was able to re-order with ease.  Highly recommend them.  Tell them you want to use my old orders as a guide.See More

Replace Choke Tube or Install Electric Choke?

My mechanic has sourced a choke housing and new internals.  As you might expect, the choke tube is damaged and or clogged.  My options are to either replace the choke tube, or my mechanic recommends changing over to an electric choke.  Please advise what is involved in replacing the choke tube:Where to source, part number, etc. What EXACTLY is involved in replacing the choke tube?   What is involved in converting to electric choke?   I think the Rochester carb was refurbished at some point, so…See More

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
