Does anyone have a working ‘64 Convertible top switch like the one pictured below that you would be willing to sell, or have a lead on where I can get one?  The new so-called “replacement” switch doesn’t fit the panel hole correctly nor the original mounting bracket. (And it looks different than the original! 😁).

…or know of a place that can rebuild my switch?

Have you tested the switch with a continuity tester to confirm it is not working, and that your problem is not in wiring or elsewhere? These are pretty simple switches with contacts that bend down and make contact and close circuit when switch button is pushed one way or the other. Sometimes contacts just need to be cleaned or bent a little. Send it to me and  would be glad to repair for free.. you would just pay for shipping it back.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for the reply and kind offer to repair my switch.
iThe problem is the switch, which I have been gingerly using for the past couple of years.  With the dash restoration and having to remove the switch.  When putting back in and testing on the circuit, it sparked and upon removal for inspection, a pin came out along with a small piece of the plastic casing. (I had one of the ugly 3 pin “reproduction” to test the circuit and it works just fine, except the new switch is hanging out of the hole; a temporary thing to get the top up and down). If you think with the broken pin it is still reparable, I will send it to you.  Btw there is a broken clip on it.
Thank you again for your advice and repair offer.

Mike

I have the base and clips from other switches and should be able to repair yours. Let's say $10 for replacement parts. If interested in me repairing send to

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
