Bear w me here. I pulled dash to replace some lights. In process found auto eye guide wires had been cut and taped.
When i unscrewed the knob and pulled it out, the stem has a little triangle tip. I am assuming it may grab something in the lights switch box so you can pull it for on an off on the lights. But i cant get it to catch back inside that switch box.. there is a little pin w a spring on itthat ypu can push in and out and kind of lines up w the groove on the on off stem that you pull out and in to turn on lights. Is there a catch or something in there were i need to pull the electrical connection box for lightscapart to reset it so that the stem will hold. Otherwise,i cant turn on lights

Pin with spring is supposed to lock to groove and keep the knob and stem there. Maybe the pin is somehow stuck and not lock. Did you press the stem deep enough?
That light switch looks different than mine. Was it working before? Once you push the rod into the switch, you will hear a click as it locks into the switch. This will be in the "headlights on" position. From there it should be locked into the switch. The spring/button is for releasing the rod from the switch. You would hold it in while pulling the rod out of the switch.
Here's pic of the stock switch
This may be a replacement piece. The wiring into it has been tunkered with. I had two black burn connections that needed to be redone. Gor bulds replaced.
As to the box. Well, i ooened it up and it has two springs in it. Stuff flew everywerr. It knida reminded me of a nns with the sliding commections, the little black tracker. Anyway, that groove in the on off stem is held in by couple pieces inside box, too hard to describe but it has a little slide over that holds it so u can pull push it. I got it together, and it now works. As usual, nothing simple bout my projects. I shouldcalways count on 12 xtra steps.
Kim, I have a light switch if needed. Send me an email; russ@thecadishack.com

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
