I am getting ready to order roof rail weather stripping and rear door window leading edge seals for my '63 Series 62 6 window sedan model 6229.

I've been on the websites for Rubber The Right Way, Steele Rubber Products and Metro Molded Parts.  The first two listed companies have identical products, with prices on each item exactly the same as their competitor, right down to the penny.  Metro's products are less in cost, but their catalog is a little confusing.  They offer two different roof rail seals for this car at two different prices.  The lower priced one is referred to as "super soft EPDM sponge rubber compound" and the more expensive one is listed as "black closed cell skin covered sponge." I'm curious if some of you experts know which of the two most closely duplicates the OEM product in appearance.  Any general comments on your experience with any of these companies (or others) would be appreciated as well.  Thank-you.

Hello Terry, it's been many years now ,but I ordered mine from Steele, and I couldn't have been happier about the look & fit .This was for my '63 6339 .HTH

I used Rubber the Right Way because they get their rubber from Steele. They do cut all flat rubber in their shop. I believe they supply Steele the flat rubber. They use to give a military discount and still might.  There about 5 miles from my house and I have been by to see them.  Nice guys that always try their best. Dave

Sorry Robert and Dave for me not getting back to you.  I ended up splitting the order.  I ordered the roof rail seals from Metro and confirmed with them over the phone that I was ordering the correct set.  Unfortunately when it arrived, it looked nothing like what was displayed in their catalog either in length, design and where the curves were.  I contacted them and they racked it up to mis-packaging at the factory.  An exchange was made and all turned out well.  I did order some more specialized parts from Rubber the Right Way, because Metro didn't make them.  They were the rear quarter window lead edge seal and the lock pillar filler.

Metro's price was quite a bit less than both Rubber the Right Way and Steele Rubber, who coincidentally had identical prices right to the dollar.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
