Jason, I liked the detail and information you have provided. I would like to do mine similar to yours. Can you help? Do you have trunk material? OPGI is sending the trunk product for my 63 Fleetwood. But it does cover the entire trunk as yours was done. If you do not have can you give me a reference? Thanks!! Bob

I used mostly Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive. I also used some 3M spray adhesive (I think #77) that I had half a can of. Both worked fine and gave me time to position and reposition fabrics while also being secure once dry.

Also, I reused the backing of the piece that comes down from the back shelf, but replaced the backing on the back (taillight end) of the trunk. For the replacement backing I used Neoprene Sponge Foam Rubber that I also got on Amazon. One 15" x 60" roll of this material was just the right amount.

I just redid my trunk. SMS Auto Fabrics sent me a sample of their fabric (about 1 1" square) and it looks essentially identical to the original fabric. I think the cost is $89/yard. It also seems to be directional (meaning it will look weird if the weave pattern is not oriented to make the weaves all go in the same direction) which will likely increase the amount of fabric needed. I don't really like the original material, and did not want to spend a lot the trunk, so I purchased my material on Amazon. I think it is similar to what OPGI sells (which is not a match to the original). The fabric I used can be found here for $60. I ordered one 4' x 20' piece that was just enough (it came as two 4' x 10' pieces). I was very happy with my choice.

You can see before, in progress, and after pictures of my trunk restoration....

Here is the end result before I put the jack and spare back in.

SMS Auto Fabrics (www.smsautofabrics.com) sells the original fabric used on the trunk mat, rear walls, wheel well corners and back hump (and used on all cardboard sides for the Fleetwood and Eldorados. ) You will need about 3 yards as I recall for body styles other than the Fleetwood & Eldo.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
