Rear suspension project

I have started my rear suspension project with the intent to replace bushings on the control links and yoke, shocks, coils and spherical joint. I have the car on jack stands and the transaxle supported and have removed the shocks(see pic). The spherical joint won’t release from the differential so it gets to come out with it attached. Today I removed a wheel and brake drum to takeoff the brake line. I was able to loosen the line from the brake plate but not able to remove as the other end needs…See More

"Still no luck on getting the spherical joint to release. I even tried loosening the nut and then driving it, hoping all that movement and pressure would allow it to release- but alas, no luck! So it is coming out with the transaxle!"

"If you are changing the spherical joint, remove the nut and get a sledge hammer. It is stuck in there. "

"Thanks Russ! I have not been able to get the spherical joint to release from the differential, so i will just remove bolts from the arms connected to the body, that should be ok when raising the car for spring removal?"

Russ Austin replied to Dave Fehrle's discussion Rear suspension project
"Shocks come out first, then the upper A arm so the car can be raised to remove the springs. "

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
