A FUNNY THING HAPPENED TO ME ON THE WAY TO SELL MY 64: A KNOWLEDGEABLE COLLECTOR SOLD IT BACK TO ME!

Hello All

As I am getting older and less able to tend to my 3 old cars, I decided to sell one of them. It turned out to be my 64 Caddy, so I advertised it locally. Several people showed up and expressed sincere interest but the one that turned me around was a fellow who lives about 50 miles from me and is very knowledgeable.

This guy came to my house, looked over the car and pointed out to me every one of the areas where this car has not deteriorated like most, and has aspects of originality not commonly found (like the original clamp-type battery terminals, washer bottle, original carb, etc). He also thought it was in really nice mechanical condition-which it is.

He was so convincing that I decided to keep the Caddy and sell one of the others, most likely the 59 DeSoto.

Just thought I'd share this story as it still strikes me as funny and ironic.

Best to all

Norm, That is a fantastic story and rare someone looking to buy your car convince you it it too nice to sell! I don't think we have ever done a full newsletter feature on your car. Now that you are going to keep it we need to move it out of the classifieds and do that full feature story! I will have several openings later in the year.  Jason.

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 13 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
