Shimming the Rear Transmission Mount, Vibration, Etc

The Hydramatic Transmissions (used in all 63 body styles and 62 series, 75 series, and commercial chassis in 1964 body styles) often have shims between the rear transmission mount and rear crossmember to reduce lower speed vibration.

In the  1963 Shop Manual, Propeller Shaft and Rear Axle Chapter 7, Section 10 Propeller Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation, information found on page 7-11 it states:

The "Feature" Tool comes in Handy for Member Cadillac Spotlight!

There's a lot of cool things about this Ning webhosting tool. I just figured out the 'Feature' tool.  I can take any picture in a photo album and 'Feature' it which means when you click on the 'Photos' tab the "featured" photo is up top. That is exactly what we need for the Member Cadillac Spotlight picture!

Jason's Carburetor & Intake Project

I've been involved in a carburetor/intake project on my 64 Coupe DeVille and thought I would share my story and some pics with you.  This is basically a rehash of what I have read that some of you have done, although I think I found a "trick" some of you may be interested in, that will allow you to bolt the Edelbrock 750 directly up to the intake.…

Blogging from iPhone

Nice to have a decent smartphone interface. Wife has surgery today and at hospital most of the day and cool to be able to keep up with the site and post. Much better interface than Multiply!! For those with smartphones simply put our website address (www.6364cadillac.ning.com) in your browser, and go to site and sign in. It automatically displays as an easy to use mobile app.

Removing Exhaust Manifolds

I have written on this subject over the years and will repeat my experience in parting out almost 60 63/64's over the past 25 years:

It is indeed much, much easier to remove the exhaust manifolds with the heads (or complete engine) removed from the car.  I have never successfully removed an exhaust manifold that has never been removed from an engine while it is still in the car and would never attempt it anyway knowing what I know now.  Assuming you have lifted the…

Horns Used on 1963 & 1964 Cadillacs

1963 Horns

In 1963 there were two conch shell shaped horns roughly 5" diameter. One Hi Note and one Lo Note.  They were marked with the 'L' and 'H' inside the lip of the horn.  The standard 1963 Hi note horn was originally part # 900-0444, but was then replaced with the smaller 1964 style Hi Note horn # 900 0514 as stock was depleted.  The standard 1963 Lo note horn was originally part # 900-0429,…

Three Driveshafts used in 1963 & 1964

There are 3 driveshafts used in 1963 & 1964 Cadillacs.

Since the Hydramatic transmission was longer than the “new for 1964” Turbo Hydramatic transmission, the front section is shorter than the ones used on TH equipped cars.  This basically means that all regular body style 1963 Cadillacs, and the "62 series" 1964's came with the driveshaft…

63 & 64 Front Bumper End Differences

The 63 and 64 from bumper end assemblies are similar in the way they bolt up and you can take the entire 6 pc 63 and replace with the6 pc 64 or vice-versa.

Here is the lowdown on the 63 & 64:

The 3 uppers are basically the same from 63 to 64.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
