For all of our Cadillac LaSalle Club and CLC Chapter members, I am sure you have received your August Self Starter and have noted that it is almost exclusively about the 1963 Cadillac!  This is definitely a keeper issue and congratulate all of our members that have their vehicles featured in the magazine. --> There were two starters used in 1964 due to the use of the newTurbo Hydramatic (THM) transmission on DeVilles, Eldos and Fleetwood 60S, and the adaptor ring required to mount the "Buick Borrowed" THM transmission to the 429 engine block.

My daily driver '64 Cadillac deVille emitted some white smoke from the engine on start up today and stalled out. Now it will not idle and stalls when I take my foot off of the gas. All of the fluids seem fine, and I have not fiddled with the carburetor anytime recently. It appears that I have a leak from the passenger side valve cover as well. I'll be posting a link to a video as soon as it finishes uploading. Any ideas?

hi all -- ignitor 3 is in and r unning OK. but theres a glitch.

ballast voltage to relay - switches 14 volts back to coil (flamethrower 2) then to ignitor 3 - all OK and running. switch off ignition switch and engine keeps running!  there is 4 volts of residual voltage in the circuit. what I would like to do is bypass the ballast resistor and see  if that fixes as I currently run the coil off the ballasted voltage (12.8volts) but would prefer to feed the flamethrower coil the full 14…
