Just finished dropping the tank on the 63 SDV due to the common problem of gas smell when I filled it up. It was either due to a bad gasket on sender or cracked hose on vent tube. Project cost me 40.00. Ingredients were as follows:
3ft. 1/4 fuel line for return line
3ft 5/16 fuel line for fuel line
7 Inches of 2 inch filler hose
2 inches of 5/8 vent tube…

Does anyone have any positive or negative references for seat belt restoration? I need to get belt webbing replaced and the mechanisms checked out for my '63 Eldorado.
Thanks,

1964 Eldo just popped up on craigslist here in Maryland. The price is pretty damn reasonable. The car looks like it could use a bit of a freshening up, but not bad for the price. Wish I had the money. Link here > 1964 Eldorado

A group of my car buddies & I go on a monthly food cruise, sometimes breakfast, lunch or dinner. Last Saturday we took a 40 mile cruise down country roads from Austin TX to Salado TX. We went to a shop there called City Garage that specializes in Lincolns & had lunch afterwards at a good burger joint in Salado. We've been lucky this winter with beautiful weather for the most part with just a few cold rainy days in between. Here's a little video I put together from the cruise. It's a…
ContinueSeems like my 63' is going to test my patience this month. I get one problem solved and another shows up. Recently I noticed I was not getting any back up lights to come on. With good advice from several of you on this blog forum figured out it was the NSS. Replaced NSS and that seemed to solve the problem, except only one back up light comes on. Checked the wiring, cleaned the connections, all other lights working correctly, have power to light green wire that connects to back up bulb …

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to drop the tank on the '63. I've read up on all the blogs about tank leaks, seaps, vent hose, etc. Like others, I get a gas smell when over half full but no wet spots on floor or evidence of and leaks around all the hoses. So, rather than mess around, I'm just going to replace all the rubber and sender sock.
Want to gather all the parts and have a question on which size openning on the sender filter/sock. I see two listed 3/8 or 5/16?. My SDV does have…

My back up lights have recently quit working. I thought perhaps the NSS was the issue so I took it off and inspected it and don't see any broken parts. I jumpered the pink/black stripe wire to the light green wire to see if they would come on and still no back up lights. (yes, I turned key to on position) Bulbs are fine, fuse is fine. Any thoughts where to check next? Thanks, Doug

Well I finally made the jump and had some work done on my interior. Thought I would share a pic of the cover my upholsterer punt on my dash. It was cracked in several places with the ugly foam showing. Seemed like every time I touched it, I put a new crack in it. I think it turned out well for a driver. Anyway- no more ugly cracks. They did have to put a seam on the…

A while back my odometer quit working just as it was turning over 40000 mi. I took some time and pulled the speedo out expecting to see a stripped gear somewhere. What I found was a chunk broke out of the odometer dial. Its locked up tight.
I replaced the dial with a working one but would like to set the numbers to around 42000 instead of showing 004876.
My…

Hello Everyone once again I am struggling with transmission leak. After months of inspecting, changing pan gaskets, and pans, I can definitely see a slow yet constant leak from the filler tube where it mates to the trans. Here is the problem, the tube is mounted to the exhaust manifold and upon inspection and trying to remove that bolt I fear it breaking into the block and opening a world of troubles. Without removing the filler tube, Is there any other way to replace that O ring or put some…

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
