My 1964 429 has a loose water pump pulley. I have taken everything apart four times and still cannot get it to seat tight against the water pump. The shaft on the water pump is still tight with no play. I fear this vibration will ruin the bearings if I do not get this fixed. I am not driving this car until it gets repaired. The four bolts go through the fan blade, spacer , and pulley. They will not go any tighter, yet still the pulley has lots of play. Any advice would be greatly…

Has anyone had any experience with refurbishing their dashboard. while reviewing the vendors website that is listed on the 63/64 website, it seems like a long and expensive proposition. Anyone had and good luck with any Vendor out there that you might recommend. Anyone got an idea on what I should be paying? any advice would be welcome

Here's a shout out to all the Dad's out there, and all of you like me that were greatly influence by their dad's. My dad Sam Edge had a huge influence on me in terms of my interest in automobiles. Everything in his life revolved around his two boys, and literally gave us everything he had to make our lives as good as they could be under the circumstances.
We grew up poor, and as a laid off and recently divorced truck driver for Burlington Industries raising two boys in the late…

Has anyone out there replaced their OEM radiator with an aftermarket aluminum radiator??? If so, from who and how did it fit?? I'm a little worried that modifications will have to be done to make an aftermarket fit.
A recore job will cost about $450. Alum. radiators are selling for about $200. Restoration is not my goal but functionality is.
Mine isn't leaking yet, but is showing some green areas on the corners, so there are some weak spots.
I'm getting the AC fixed and…

When I rebuilt my engine in 2012, I found a useful guide by the AERA (Associated Engine Rebuilders) that I went by when I broke in my engine and thought I would post here and put a link in our Help Topics page since this topic has come up a few times recently.
Here is the main link: http://gafiero.akroncdnr.com/docs/BreakIn.pdf
Here are some of the main points I picked up from it:

In order to get us more familiar with the set-up and use of separate Forums, vs Blogs (what we use for our Message board), I have renamed Message Board to Blogs, and added a new tab called Forums. You can continue to use Blogs as our Message Board but as you get use to some of the features of the Forums you will probably want to use the forums functionality for lengthy group Q&A type discussion. These are just baby steps in what will hopefully be a more robust way to communication…

Well, I'm still slowly going through a lot of trials and tribulations, trying to get this 63 SDV back in shape.
I remember now why I went from cars to antique tractors as therapy. Tractors are simple and cheap. I'm beginning to liken this to the game of golf, which I can't stand and never took up. But, then I go for a drive, look at the lines of these ol rigs, and start in again.
It took me two shops to get the rear spherical ball joint replaced. 1st on couldn't keep rear…

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
