Our old Cadillacs have a pretty simple electrical system using an externally regulated alternator to keep the battery charged and run the accessories while driving. First appearing in 1963, the GM 10DN externally regulated alternator was a step up from the bulky generator used on the '62 and earlier. But newer, internally regulated alternators are now available that can output three times the current in the same size package. This article explains how I upgraded my charging system to a…

Just noticed a NSS on ebay for $39.99 Looks like for a TH400 w/o tilt. This would be a #652 I think. I have no interest in this item; maybe somebody could use this.

I've been waiting a long time for somebody to make this so I'm really excited to share it. I've seen people run Aux to the original radio, but this goes way beyond that. You can keep the looks of the stock radio, but with modern amenities like Bluetooth, Aux, and outputs for Amps and Subs. I posted the website and Youtube link to a Cadillac radio below. …

I just rebuilt my motor last year and have a 1406 carb. . I was having hesitation issues and had 3-4 plugs always looking rich and the others fine. I also put on a NEW rebuilt dist., flame thrower #3 and module.
This year I brought back to my mechanic and we did a compression , leak down, manifold smoke, valve check and everything was fine. So I decided to try a new 1411 carburetor and follow Jason blog to a t. Plugged gutter holes, bought insulator spacer and away I…

I have NAPA shocks on my 63, they have been okay but I'm not completely satisfied with the rebound damping on the rear suspension. At highway speeds after hitting a dip in the road the rear of the car will rebound one or two times before settling down. Looking at what is available, I'm not sure which brand to replace them with. Gabriel HD classic, AC Delco, Monroe/NAPA. From what I can tell, Monroe and Napa are the same shock. So the question is, in the collective experience here, which…

I also have a fan shroud for sale. I don't want to take any customers from Jason or Russ, so I won't underprice anything they might sell. But I would like to help anyone needing this; instead of it just sitting in my parts car trunk. Has some surface rust and is dirty, but would clean up nice,no dents or damage. $50.00 plus shipping My email is r.shannon94@yahoo.com

Just noticed what looks like a very nice steering wheel on EBAY: two tone green. I have absolutely no connection or interest in it. If somebody needs it, the price is a fraction of repair cost. Just putting this out there.

I am having a terrible time with my 64 SDV- She quit on me at a Red Light. All the ignition parts are new and the points are properly adjusted. I have 12 Volts going to the coil and power to the distributor- but NO SPARK. So I thought -must be a bad coil. I changed the coil three times and just bought a Fourth- still NO SPARK- even with 12 Volts going to it. I am lost here. The only thing i did not change is that small condenser or resister on the coil. What does that do?? Could it be…

My 64 SDV has no power going to Coil. I have a good battery that is fully charged and everything looks to be hooked up correctly. Is there a fuse that may have blown that provides power to the coil? Has anyone else had this problem?
Any info would be Greatly Appreciated.
Thanks

Hi All,
I wanted to share my experience converting my factory air system to 134a refrigerant, hoping it will save you time and money. After I changed the parts, I got my system charged professionally and it works amazingly well, blowing ice cold at the vents. Here's what I did:
I started with a call to Old Air Products (oldairproducts.com) from Texas. I'm usually the guy who researches everything alone and then buys the parts online without ever interfacing with a human, but…

Hi guys, my 64 coupe starts just fine but won't keep running unless I hold the accelerator half way and when I do that I can hear a few little "pops" in the carb any ideas on what the problem might be?
Thanks Jim

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
